REF: COVID – 19: RESPONSE MEASURES AND MANAGEMENT PLAN
It is with regret that I am writing to you to confirm that we have closed all our homes to non-
essential visitors. This is with immediate effect, 12 March 2020.
Essential health service and emergency personnel will still enter our home, as will appropriate new
admissions as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting our county health services, and of
course offering care to those who urgently need it.
This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, it follows detailed analysis of all current information
and advice available from the government, health authorities and other relevant sources.
Our priority has to be to protect the health and wellbeing of all our residents. They represent some of
the most vulnerable in our healthcare system, and as such are at the highest risk from this dangerous
virus. We must do all we can to minimise that risk and to protect them, we felt we had no choice but
to take this decision.
I am genuinely sorry for any inconvenience or distress this might cause, but I am sure you understand
that perhaps a relatively small sacrifice now might go a long way to averting a far bigger one in days
and weeks to come.
If there is a situation that requires a non-routine visit, we would ask that you discuss this with the
Registered Manager of the home to ensure that the appropriate precautionary measures are taken to
limit any potential risk.
In addition, we are limiting visits overall, and visits from the local community and external
entertainment are cancelled for the foreseeable future. Our staff will do all they can to ensure that life
in our services remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. We will still ensure that vital medical
visits are made and will be sure that only visitors who are not displaying symptoms come in, and that
they wash their hands on entering.
We are able to offer various options to assist you to stay in touch, including ‘phones to the bedside
and even ‘face time’ and skype calls. Let us know if we can help in any way to facilitate these
facilities for you. We will also post updates regarding both incident management progress, and
resident activity and wellbeing across all our social media platforms, keep a good eye there as well!
We remain dedicated to ensuring and protecting the health and wellbeing of our residents and
team, of friends and families, I know you are too. Thank you for your consistent support it is
hugely appreciated and valued.
