Remembrance Day is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. We remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict.

At Abbey Court, Remembrance Day is particularly meaningful to one resident, 101 year old Albert.

Albert left school to serve in the Second World War where he fought in the battle of Monte Casino in Italy. After returning home Albert worked as a local bus driver for 50 years. Albert enjoyed his sports playing both cricket and lawn bowls. His hobbies include watching Western Movies and listening to music in the lounge. Albert’s biggest achievements are his family and having tea with the pope at the Vatican.

Albert displays all of his proud achievements in his room, and is proud for these to be shared.
