Virtual Dementia Tour visits Drovers Call

At Knights are we pride ourselves on taking a proactive approach to Dementia training and this week 24 staff members from Drovers Call completed the Virtual Dementia Tour, courtesy of Training 2 Care and their Virtual Dementia Bus.

This training provided staff with true insight into some of the physical and sensory changes that a person living with dementia may experience. Staff also looked into;

  • Understanding the importance of person-centred care and approaches for people living with dementia
  • Understanding how to challenge stereotyping and labelling of people living with dementia
  • Relating to how a person with dementia may feel in an unfamiliar environment and identify ways to support the person.
  • The importance for people with dementia to have meaningful activities and are supported in an inclusive environment.
  • Ways to make the environment conducive for someone living with dementia

With this training and other continuous development training for staff, we aim to ensure we are providing the best person-centred care for residents living with dementia, helping and enabling them to live a fulfilling life while in our care.
